The Thing

Only a few days ago I saw the movie The Thing. Yesterday I learned that a prequel of the 1982 John Carpenter film is coming out in October. This led me to look up information about the movie.

In 1951, Howard Hawks made a movie called The Thing from Another World. The movie is based off John W. Campbell, Jr.’s 1938 novella "Who Goes There?” The plot of the movie was A United States Air Force in a North Pole base is trapped with a creature form another world.

In 1982, John Carpenter made a movie called The Thing. This movie was a remake of Howard Hawks’ The Thing from Another World. The plot is basically the same, an American Antarctic research team stationed at the United States National Science Institute Station 4 end up looking after a husky which latter (spoil alert) ends up being the thing.

In 2003, VU Games made the video game The Thing. It’s a sequel to John Carpenter's 1982 film The Thing. It was a third person survival horror game made for PlayStation 2, Windows, and Xbox

Now in 2011, from the makers of Dawn of the Dead directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. comes The Thing. This files is not a remake but a prequel to the 1980’s The Thing. The plot is taking place three days before the events of the 1980’s file, instead of US Station 4 it’s the Norwegian camp.

I can’t wait for the new The Thing movie to come out, and I recommend that you see one of the past Things..
